Ariana is walking

Yes, thats right, the little terror is on the loose!!! Ariana started walking on Sunday. She is falling lots, and getting up and trying again, still not tooo well when it comes to walking with her shoes on. Yesturday she was trying to walk on her own (usually we coax her into walking). Shes doing very well. It is very fun to watch her learn and grow. We are looking forward to takin her out on walks, and parks and stuff like that. The
older she gets the more I am finding myself getting worn out earlier, I have a feeling it is only going to be getting worse.
AAAHHHH!!!! LOVE IT!!!

Happy Halloween

I hope everyone had a wonderful halloween. Ariana went trick or treating for the first time and she had a blast! I unfortunatly had to work at 4pm, and Will had to work from 11:00-9:00 so he was not able to participate with trick or treating. Ariana went to the Alderwood Mall (each store hands out candy) and she went to downtown Bothell (the city where I work at) and the merchants opened thier stores to trick or treaters. She had a great safe time getting candy. Ariana was so cute she would pick the candy up and place it in her sack. She started throwing a fit towards the end of the mall, she wanted candy. Ariana would get the candy get a tight grip on the candy not let it go and then sit on the ground and lock her knees and not move. She would forget shes only 18 lbs and mommy can pick her up, LOL. Anyways we had a great day. After I got off work we went to grandma and grandpa cooks house so they could see her cute costume. Ariana was the cutest ladybug on the block! Now, its time to look forward to Thanksgiving!

Happy Fall Everyone

I hope everyone is having a great autumn. I am part of a happy blog and I posted a challenge to get others to post things they love about this season. I have seen some awsome pictures. Knowing about this challenge and wanting to take pictures my sister and I headed to a pumpkin patch. Will had to work so we will be returning in about a week and a half to gather our gordes and pumpkins to last us for a while...lol :) I wanted to post pictures. Also for the challenge my mom and I (Will again, had to work :( ) went to Snoqualmie Falls. It is a tradition to go to the falls every fall and see the fall folage in the mountains. Will unfortunatly couldnt join me so I went up with my mom, pictures are dark, sorry, it was sunset (best time to go).

Ariana's a big girl

I wanted to update everyone on Ariana. She's growing up so quickly. She is trying so hard to walk, and will be taking those 1st steps any day now. She stands on her own and wanted to try and walk to me last night but just didnt dare to yet. She used to snort as her laugh, and shes so over that snorting phase, she laughs at everything, and is such a happy girl. She had a small cold last week and passed thru with ease. She minds very well but still trys to push our buttons. We are getting her to start putting things away. But she would rather take things out of its place (we do dishes in the dishwasher and she wants to help take out the silverware). The other day we were at DOL (dept of licencing) and there was a baby there that is 5 days older than her and she was hugging the girl and loves people her size. I really need to get out there and find a great play group for her. She is such a social little girl.

Another Funny

OK... So I work at a retirement community and one of the residents told me this joke yesturday, it is a little bit "dirty" but I found it hilarious.

An older man walked into a 50's diner to get an ice cream. He had a hard time sitting on top of the bar stool.

He struggled to get up and when he sat down he ordered his ice cream sundae. The watress asked him, "crushed nuts" and he replied "no arthritis"
I hope you found this as hilarious as I did!!!

Pregnant???

No, I am not pregnant, but my brother Ben got married to his bride Lisa in Feb 08 and they are expecting. Lisa has been really sick and one of the tests came back positive for Down Sydrome. They live in Elko, NV and had to go to Salt Lake City, UT to see a specialist and get more tests done. They were not going to find out the sex of the baby either until they heard this heart breaking news.... WELL the tests were finished and found out it was a FALSE positive, so the baby is healthy and it will be a BOY! So I will be an auntie and Will is going to be an Uncle, and Ariana will have a new cousin there about Feb. 09, and they will be having a happy HEALTHY bouncy baby boy!!! YAH!!!

Funny #2

OK so this funny acually happened last night...

My sister has a baked potatoe bar pot luck she has to put together for today at church. I was at her house when she was talking about needing to go to the store to buy 50 potatoes for this potatoe bar. I told her that I had 10 lbs of potatoes at my house, some are good still, some has eyes, and some are just getting soft. My sister KayLynn is a cook and knows how good foods are to eat. Last night she was heading over to my house to pick up the potatoes and then running to the store. Going out to the car I told her I was going to run to McDonalds to pick up an ice cream cone. So she gets in her car and goes to McDonalds to get her dinner. Her car is right in front of mine, so she orders her dinner 1st. I pull up and order my cone. People say we sound alike, so alike that my Mom gets our voices mixed up. We also look alike. I call my sister up and say hey, want to play a trick on the window people, and she asks what I have in mind. I was wearing my glasses so she said take off your glasses, hold the phone in your right hand up to your ear and we can talk the same when we give the guy the money, then after you pull thru tell me what the guy does (remember we are in our seperate cars), she is wearing a fleece jacket and I had a hoodie on so our clothes we semi alike, and we had our hair done the exact same way, in a sloppy bun. So she pulls up and pays, I pull up after her and say HI!!! and the guy says hi...... pauses for about 15 seconds, stares at me, shakes his head, turns around, pauses for a real sec and then says.... $1.40. I said THANK YOU!!! and drive off. The lady in the 2nd window either didnt pay attn or learned that its not polite to stare. But I also didnt have my glasses on so I didnt see her reaction, where as the guy before was a very knoticable reaction. LOL!!!! I thought that was great, we laughed and laughed and laughed..... For those of you who dont know us to well, I am 2 years older than her, so we are not twins, but definatly sisters. LOL

baby sign language

I have heard typically children tend to learn sign language at 10 months. Ariana has been way ahead as far as development for about the 1st 9 months. I then started to worry because I have been waiting for her to use some sign language that I have periodiclly been using. Not sure of how usuful baby sign language is I stopped doing it with Ariana showing no signs at wanting to communicate that way. Last Sunday it all changed. All the sudden everything we have been trying to do with her she just started doing. Its like on Sunday she woke up and decided I am going to start using my hands like everyone does. I really wish I had a video camera to show everyone. But I am so excited and really going to focus on sign language with her. If you ask Ariana for kisses (just say the word kiss) and she will blow you kisses, lots of kisses. Ask her to give you a high 5 and she gives you lots of hi-5. She is waves at anyone she sees. She knows it melts peoples hearts and she gets lots of giggles so she will give anyone kisses. While going upstairs to our apartment the landscaper was adding in mulch and we were talking to him, and i said say bye bye and she started blowing him kisses and waving. Today she learned how to put shapes into the right shape holes in her toys, and takes balls and puts them in the correct spot. I like taking her outside and play on the slide out back and she seems to have a love-hate relationship with the slide. Today she LOVED the darn thing. I was sliding her backwards and on her belly and she had a huge smile on her face. It goes to show that even with you dont think children are taking in everything around them, they watch you and learn so fast, and apply what they have learned when they are ready.

Funny #1

For those who follow this blog I have decided to post a funny comment, joke, picture about once a week. If I am having a slow week I will post more, or if I get a great email that I cant wait to share. I hope some won't offend anyone, but it is by what humors me. This funny I am getting ready to post might offend someone. Its a political one, Im not all into politics but this one was hilarious, just reverse to Obama if that is what you are going to vote for...

I got this via email about a week or so ago from a friend.

A teacher in Elmira , New York asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans. Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he had decided to be different...again.

Little Johnny said, 'Because I'm not an Obama fan.'

The teacher asked, 'Why aren't you an Obama fan?'

Johnny said, 'Because I'm a Republican.'
The teacher asked him why he's a Republican.

Little Johnny answered, 'Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican.'

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, 'If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?'

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, 'That would make me an Obama fan.'

ASAT test

About 2 months ago Will applied for an entry level Air traffic controler position. He has toured the local tower at the airport not far from our house. Tomoorow will is going to be taking the ASAT test. He is not very good in math and I dont know if there will be any math questions on the test. However, he does know all the commands and lingbo an air traffic man needs to know. Will can also tell you what type size and general things about a plane by looking at it. He also understands how to read the maps that the tower looks at to find out the area of a plane.
I don't know if this job will work out but I am a firm beliver that everything happens for a reason so if he does not pass this test this job isn't right for him at this time. Will has been working himsel.f up to get the job so he has many things that are in his favor.

Labor Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day, and I hope you spent it with the people you love. Everyone had to work on Memorial Day so me, my mom, and Ariana took a day trip to Leavenworth & Wenatchee, WA. A background on Leavenworth. Its a small town about 2 hours east of Everett. The town was turning into a ghost town and the residents wanted to revamp Leavenworth so they decided to be creative and remodel the town to resemble Germany. Every single building looks like something out of a storybook. Theres tons of cute shops and resturants. Almost every weekend there is some sort of fun festival to attend. I wanted to post pictures. I hope everyone had a fantastic long weekend!

Ariana's 1st Birthday Slideshow

Happy 1st Birthday Ariana

I know its beginning of September and Ariana already had her birthday, but its a big mile marker and wanted to share it on here. Will had a family emergency back in Atlanta and went out of town with his Mom on Aug. 20. Ariana turned 1 on August 20 so before Will go on the plane we went out to breakfast she ate a cupcake and opened a few gifts. We had already put alot of money and effort into her birthday party on Aug. 23rd so decided to go ahead with it even though Will and his family wouldn't be there. So for her birthday we had my Mom make Ariana's cake and we had it at the local park here in Everett. The park is awsome had so many wonderful childrens activities. We had a homemade pinata (made my me and my brother) which didnt want to break open (took 20 minutes) and we played pin the tail on eeyore, and I drew eeyore. We had the party a winnie the pooh theme. We grilled up hamburgers and hot dogs and had a great time. Ariana got spoiled and we thank everyone who got her a gift!!!

A Friendly Welcome, A Little About Us

Dear Friends and Family!!!
I am a member of 2 different blogs and have been fighting with myself on if I should start my own blog or not. I was thinking, oh I have a boring family nothing ever goes on. Well the better part of me won, so WELCOME to the Cook Family blog. Now is a great time to introduce us. I am sure everyone who is visiting our site already knows enough about us, so just bear with me!!! HEHE!

Will:
Will is 29 born in Atlanta. His father was in the US Navy and the Navy moved his family when Will was about 1 1/2 or so to Seattle where his family now all resides. Will is the oldest of 3 children, there is Noelle and Sean who are his siblings. Will has been an on-again, off-again student at Edmonds Community College. He is currently attending to be a Buisness Manager.
Will is a 1 of a kind guy! LOL... Ok so he has a huge heart and family is always #1 in his life. He is always learning and maturing. He is going to school and holding down 2 jobs so I can eventually be able to work weekday nights and no more weekends. If someone in his family needs help Will is pretty much always there to lend a helping hand. He can drive me crazy, but I love him!

Brooke:
I am the main person thats going to be doing all the talking here. I am 24 and born in Omaha Nebraska. My father was in the US AirForce and was stationed there. I am the 2nd oldest of 4 children, I have a brother Ben who is older and 2 younger siblings- KayLynn and Tyler. When I was about a year old my family moved to the Salt Lake City area to be closer to family and when I was 10 my parents moved us to Elko, Nevada. I grew up in Elko and concider that my hometown. I moved to Seattle in 2004 when I was 20 and have been here ever since. Like Will I am very much family driven. I would do anything to help out family, or a friend. I have very stern family and core values. I am currently working 30 hours a week at a retirement community in Bothell, where I have been for 3 1/2 years. I am hoping that one day I will be able to stay home full time. I am fortunate enough to be home with Ariana in the day which is always fun although I really wish I was working in the day, it works for me either way. I love to travel, and I have big plans for our family for the future!

Ariana:
She is our baby. She just turned a year. She is a very determained little girl that definatly has a mind of her own. She is always learning new things and experementing with new things to do. She loves jumping around and is very very active. She has grandma (Brookes mom) red hair, Wills blue eyes and chunky cheeks. Shes a very petite little girl, and no matter how much she eays shes just going to be tiny. For her 1 year check up she weighed in at 16 lbs 7 oz, and 27 in long. Whats really nice about having her be so tiny is she gets more wear and tear on her clothes. She is still wearing size 6 month clothes.

How we met:
We met on http://www.ldschat.com/. Since I have met Will I have yet to be on that chatsite, I dont know if it still exists. I got my tax return before Will got his and the deal was whoever got thiers first was to make the first visit. So you guessed it, I got mine first and I came to Seattle. At the time I was living in Utah and knew Seattle was where I wanted to be. I love the greenery, and the water, the archeticture on the downtown skyscrapers. And at the time I loved rain (its ok now). We soon got engaged and married on December 17, 2004. We have been driving each other crazy ever since... LOL!!!
